R.I.P. Robin Williams (July 21, 1951 – August 11, 2014)

Robin's wife made the following statement.

"This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken.

On behalf of Robin's family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin's death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions."

May you find your Neverland, Robin Williams, free of the demons of this world. I will always remember the laughs. You are missed. 🙁

Psycho Killer by Eric Fan

(1) This reminded me of +Edouard E. Not just because he's French. I think maybe because he gave me a beret and instructions for how to wear it. Oh, and that he's a psycho killer. 😉 jk (I think)

(2) Hearing psycho killer always ear-worms me, even when it's not supposed to (chuckling at the news and singing at inappropriate times and all that).

I'm Batman

Sitting at my kitchen table last night working on the laptop, I had the lights on and the patio door blinds were pulled aside so I could look outside over the top of my laptop. It had gotten mostly dark and suddenly I heard a hurried flapping noise and something hit the screen. I looked up and there was a blur of motion that backed up and hit the screen once more before darting up and away. It was very light colored and had a long tail, the same flesh coloring as the body, that extended down several inches below it like a necklace hanging down when you peer over a precipice. "WTF?!?" After weighing the pros and cons of going outside to find this flying chupacabra (that was my original guess) I did go out but there was nothing to see but bugs collecting on my screen drawn to the inside lights. Thinking about it more, bat was the more practical choice. Still… the coloration and tail were different than any bats I had previously encountered. Looking up indigenous bats to the area that fit the description this may very well have been a Mexican Free-tailed bat. Being as the whole experience profoundly interrupted my laptop time, the only sensible thing to do was become Batman. There is no argument for this; when in doubt, be Batman. It's indisputable. Having several unfinished Batman mask printouts in my laptop bag left over from July 23rd, Batman Day, it was fate calling for sure. Anyone who knows me knows that I think capes are impractical – except for Batman. Well, and Spawn, but a demon did not fly into my screen, just a bat. I ran upstairs and grabbed a dark blue bed sheet from the closet and improvised from there. Since I didn't make a clasp, all the poses look very "thinking Batman" with my fist to my chin holding the bed sheet around me as I posed for selfies in my kitchen wearing my paper masks. You know, thinking about this now, I probably should have closed the blinds. Now the neighbors may know my secret identity! 😉

Extras:

Masks include:
• DETECTIVE COMICS #27: His 1st appearance, drawn by Bob Kane
• BATMAN ’66: inspired by the classic TV series starring Adam West
• THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS: As drawn by Frank Miller
• DC COMICS – THE NEW 52: As drawn by Greg Capullo

Fridge is open because Batman was figuring out what to eat while doing his selfies.

+Maddie Cramer, I raided your room and used your bracelet cord for my mask string. I owe you! 😉

The Pie Hole (from Pushing Daisies)

I never made it through all of this series before it was canceled. I remember it being witty and refreshing. If I was a bazillionaire I'd totally hire the creators and actors/actresses of all my favorite shows to keep making more until their logical end.

Image is a print available from Etsy.

Need More Balloons

Daughter and I spotted a half dozen balloons launching when we were on the way home last night. This pic was snapped from my driveway right after we pulled in. Remember old sci-fi movies where they had an over abundance of dirigibles and flying ships in the air to show it was the future? Well, I think we need more balloons when we look up. Dirigibles would be awesome, but I would definitely settle for balloons. One caveat, no advertising! Jeez. Does RE/MAX real estate own a balloon company, or what? 😉

Pic snapped with my LG G2 and enhanced by G+ photos.

Canada Alliteration HIRL – Mellie, Mellie's Mom, Mini Mel, Maddie, and Me!

Canada Alliteration HIRL – Mellie, Mellie's Mom, Mini Mel, Maddie, and Me!

Okay, so maybe "Mini Mel" was a stretch but her little boy's name does not start with an "M". Literary license! 😉 +Maddie Cramer and I ended our vacation to Maine with a trip to Niagara Falls in Canada this last Sunday. We were pretty wiped and took off a lot earlier than planned. The GPS route went within minutes of +Mellie B, so I messaged a dinner invite and apology for being so last minute! Luckily we caught her, and as an added bonus, her mom was able to come along; I met her mom from playing WordFeud with Mellie and she hooked us up to play too. We had an excellent dinner at an establishment named Jack Astors (hehe, yes, the name is on purpose – I asked).

The included pics have captions on them, but one needed a bit more. The tables at the restaurant we went to have a brown paper covering that they let you draw on. Here is a breakdown of the picture on ours:
* Mellie on a unicorn. Because… duh.
* Consensus said she needed a crown because she's a princess.
* I decided she needed a whip. To control the unicorn.
* Unicorn is actually a vampire unicorn because that's way more wicked (my new jargon from Maine and +Rhonda Britton).
* Since Mellie was standing on the unicorn, and brandishing a whip can throw one off balance, I made sure to strap her onto the unicorn's back so she didn't fall off.
* Mellie's mom made a point about a bumpy ride if I am remembering correctly, so I added some springs to help out.
* I added rocket shoes to the unicorn – it just seemed like a logical progression. Mellie's mom was thinking high heels was the way to go, so we made it rocket high heels.
* Mellie wanted a wand. Voila. Wand! Maddie and Mellie's mom made sure it was truly magical with a star on it.
* A side thing going on was a conversation with Mellie's mom about the war of 1812. This resulted in a cannon that I drew to fire a cannonball at Mellie's little one. Also a line between US and THEM. hehe
* Mellie's mom challenged me to draw a 13 stars flag (easy, sort of) and a Union Jack (umm… it's behind the fog). I had to adjust the flag pole because of the proximity to the vampire unicorn's derriere.
* To explain the insanity, Mellie drew a TARDIS. All makes sense.
* I told the waitress she had to add to the picture… because that's how I roll. She drew a flower?! I made it a vampire flower. It didn't show well in the first photo so Mellie hand modeled for us with a pointer to it.

The artwork was ripped from the table and brought back to Indiana. Reasonable monetary offers will be accepted. Framing is extra. 😉

Spider in my bed. My ninja warrior battle for survival

I laid down on the left side of the bed and out of the corner of my eye I caught a very rapid movement in the folds of the comforter to my right. Very. Rapid. Small and dark object going about a hundred miles an hour directly toward me and then disappearing into the shadows and folds. Narrowly avoiding smashing my head into the ceiling, I jumped straight upwards like one of those little suction cup spring toys you stick to a table. Landing cat-like (I will have you know that Garfield is a cat) to the side of the bed, my eyes glued to the spot I had last seen the moving blur, thoughts of full length flannel pajamas with footies and suits of armor flashed through my head as appropriate sleeping gear. Having neither of those, I tried very hard to appear fearless in my I-suddenly-wished-they-were-boxers Hanes. I truly believe, beyond any rational thought, spiders can smell fear – and are highly attracted to it. I was dangerously close to being Belle to this Beast. Slowly, systematically, starting at the corner of the sheets hanging down near me, I started pulling the fabric taught and folding it in squares while I pulled it toward me. All the while, I watched vigilantly for any signs of motion. If I did not find this thing, I was barring the door and sleeping downstairs with a flashlight. On the kitchen table. Wrapped in cellophane with a straw through a breathing hole. Wire mesh on the end of the straw. One can NOT be too careful. I also lamented the fact that I did not choose a white comforter, and instead picked one the color of spider. Panicking somewhat as I reached the far corner of the covers with no success, my theory of fear-smelling-spiders panned out as the little bugger made a run for me. It did not matter the sheer impossibility of seeing it's eyes for me to know they were filled with violence. Lustful violence, no doubt. Shiver!  Channeling my inner fencing pro, I jumped back, parrying my non existent sword in what must have appeared a very silly mime of one of the three musketeers. It must have been comic because the dark creature stopped and, I am quite sure, laughed. Foolish prideful laughter, because I had grabbed a piece of tissue clinging to a disposed toiletry role nearby and, going against all survival instincts, dove unto the bed with only two ply of cottony softness between me and certain death and/or dismemberment. Smashing the tissue down I then squeezed it together in my hand almost letting loose a warrior yell that came out more like something from Shaggy on Scooby-Doo when I remembered daughter was asleep in the next room over. Well, so long as the earlier blood curdling reenactment of Jamie Lee Curtis in Halloween did not already awaken her. I released my death grip long enough to briefly flip over the tissue to verify it contained my evil foe. It did. Bounding (gerund or present participle of "bound"; to walk or run with leaping strides) to the commode, I propelled the compressed mass of generic brand Cottonelle® and spider guts into the porcelain rimmed waters like a depth charge looking for Red October. It was over. I could finally go back to bed and sleep. Or… nervously glance at any imagined motion around me as I distracted myself by writing the tale on the laptop. You know, just in case I am not heard from again come morning. Hey! Did anyone see that shadow in the corner move?! Anyone!??!?!
