Stare Down Contest

Strange hash marks appearing on my arm today. I am keeping a log and will post later. In the mean time, I felt compelled to post this picture when I saw it…

Galactus says Happy Earth Day!

I have posted some of Patrick Ballesteros' bigger images before but never one of his sketches. This was too good to pass up for Earth Day. I love the tiny missiles. Also, anyone else think his Galactus looks like Bruce Campbell?! 😉

I Know That Feel, Bro by paperbeatsscissors

I love these common themed "feel your pain" mash-ups. There are many more at the link, but here are a dozen of my favorites. All are by deviantART's Chris G. (paperbeatsscissors). Please make sure and go show him some love. 🙂

Stun Setting Instructions

Vs. Doctor Who: Sometimes you need more than a sonic screwdriver.

Vs. Comics: Batman is definitely a light saber guy.

Vs. Firefly: Ain't got no time for Gorram stunnin' things! 😉

It's time

That's right, #BigHeadJim agrees after almost two years since the aquarium crashed, it's time.

Will be setting up a 55 gallon freshwater tank. I'm super rusty. Advice welcome, my friends.

P.s., more Big Head +Jim Gomes to come now that he's resurfaced.

Schools of Thought

Not sure whether that should be "nerd" or "geek". I'm kinda leaning toward "geek". Does the fact I'm wondering about this make me a "nerd"?

Geek Brain Map

"Sharks with frickin' lasers" makes up for the inclusion of "lolcats". Also, I had my parents trained to never mess with the action figures and graphic novels. They also wussed out under the dating section 😉

I also see my brain as being more sparkly after interacting with +Mz Maau this past year. It's kind of like sparkly brain cooties.

A Map of the Open Country of a Woman's Heart by D

W. Kellogg, c. 1833–1842I'd love to find a modern recreation of this and see how an artist from today would represent everything. I think it would be interesting to see the two side by side. In your spare time +Eduardo Rodriguez Calzado… ;-)From the link:This map of a woman's heart tells us much about what the artist and his society believed about women. This illustration perfectly captures nineteenth-century ideas about womanhood. The caption reads, "The Open Country of Woman's Heart, Exhibiting its internal communications, and the facilities and dangers to Travelers therein." According to this map, Love is at the center of a woman's heart, and Sentimentality and Sentiment (including Good Sense, Discrimination, Hope, Enthusiasm, and Platonic Affection) take up a sizable portion of the entire territory. This region of Sentiment and Sentimentality is separated from the larger, treacherous areas of a woman's heart: Selfishness and Coquetry pose dangers, especially to gentleman travelers, and these attributes suggest that all women are basically untrustworthy. The largest regions, Love of Admiration, Love of Dress, and Love of Display, all suggest that women are also essentially shallow and frivolous. Although the image claims to have been drawn by "A Lady," it is just as likely that it proceeded from the imagination of a man.http://www.americanantiquarian.org/Exhibitions/Beauty/true.htm

Do you want to play a game with me?

Recycled image! Ran across the source file earlier while cleaning my hard drive. I look at it today and think of putting different people's heads on each figure. +Charlie Hoover is easy. +Dirk Reul as…? 😉

Riding the Nyan!

Happy Birthday today to +Keely Brubaker, who was one of the final submissions in the #10minutehero  project a while back (not sure the final group shot ever got published so will work on that). Since she always dresses exactly like this, it was easy to whip up a little card for her!

Check out her stream and say hello! She's into crochet and polymer clay if you need a conversation starter. 😉

Marvel and DC done Pixar style by Phil Postma

More from the talented Phil Postma. This time, he re-imagines Marvel and DC characters done in Pixar's signature style. There are MANY more images at the link.

From the artist:
This project started after the announcement of Disney buying Marvel comics and all the the fans started making Pixar / Avengers images. Well I was not terribly happy with the images that they were doing, so I tried to do better. Most of what I saw was recoloured images from "The Incredibles" movie screen grabs.

Mainly, this was just another way to better know Photoshop and I used the same rules as when I did those "Star Wars" posters. Just collected a lot of images using Google, cut and pasted them together, and this is what you get. I put them in a format that makes them look like those movie & comic trading cards I use to collect as a kid.

Hope you enjoy.

New British Budweiser Ad

Budweiser is set to release a new proprietary can in May. The new can mimics the shape of the iconic Budweiser logo and a new manufacturing process had to be created for it. "Aluminum can be stretched only about 10 percent without fracturing, which requires that the angles of the bowtie be very precise."

An Anheuser-Busch spokesman said, "We felt that with the new can centering on precision, innovation, and a long-standing philosophy that bow ties are cool, a tie-in with the current incarnation of the long-standing British sci-fi icon, Doctor Who, was a perfect match." Ads will be test marketed mid summer in select cities.
