I have officially started construction on C3PO. I figure it's key to get the breast and back plate looking right. I am using a metal mesh (diamond metal lath) for rigidity. I really should wear some gloves cutting this stuff. Ouch. I have no patterns so I am winging it. I have scratches all over, especially after I ditched the shirt when it kept catching and the sleeves kept getting in the way. Let's just say I should have gotten some pasties or something…
I saw someone do something similar online and they used a .3mm polystyrene sheet for covering the metal lath. I have not found one of those locally yet. Cost is a factor so I have to keep it low. The metal lath sheet cost me about $8 and some change. Ideas appreciated! ;)

+James Lamb Oh, the merchandise is SO scratched. Ow ow ow ow ow. Edges are all wrapped in grey tape now.
Need to cover the breast and back plate with something and then paint them gold and add details. Also, working on the arms and legs. I have a pattern for the calves but this is daunting.

If you want to get hard core you can use fiberglass matt and resin then when its hardened sand it and apply a skim coat of bondo and sand again for a smooth finish spray paint with gold paint
I believe it was suggested at the outset that one brother go wookie, and the other brother go robot.
Have to keep within a $40 budget of bought, donated, borrowed, and stolen. LOL, I'm working with poster board at the moment too.
