I would very much love to break the chains that tie me to a carrier. Better yet, I'd love to see someone break the carrier's backs.

The HTC One X would be a great candidate to be one of those phones. Given how well it runs now even with Sense on it, offering an even faster stock ICS/Jelly Bean build would be a lovely thing.

Sounds good. However, one small correction regarding the timely updates to the Galaxy Nexus. I'm still running Android 4.0.2, even though 4.0.4 has been out for some time and includes significant fixes. No OTA (over the air) update from Verizon yet. I'm about to root the phone and install CyanogenMod 9 or else AOKP (Android Opensource Kang Project) custom ROM on it. I think AOKP will give the purest Android experience, but CM9 does have some nifty features added to it. If I can root and flash my phone, then the only tie that I have to the carrier is the data plan I signed up for. With many of them no longer offering unlimited data, this becomes more valuable to me. I will never go with a limited data package, because I download massive amounts of data on my phone in a month. It's actually very easy to do without trying hard, especially at 4G speeds.

Would love to see Google compete! They are so consumed by the Oracle suit that they are missing their G-O-L-D-E-N O-P-P-O-R-T-U-N-I-T Y to compete against iOS!!! WAKE UP GUYS!!!
Your unlimited at big red will most likely disappear on your next upgrade unless you do it before the family tiered plans come out this summer
+Mike Till not true. As long as I don't make any changes to the plan, like switching to a different plan, I will keep the unlimited data plan for as long as I want. Getting a new phone and activating it on this plan won't change the plan, therefore the unlimited data stays.
Hearing a matter phones at retail pricing true… there's information I have seen is if you use the discounted pricing (sign a new contract) you most likely will be faced with the new tiered data plan……
GOOG sucks wind because they aren't kicking Apple's butt for all the things their phones/pads can to which Apple's can't. I think Sergey and Larry are preoccupied with Oracle's lawsuit, or they are sorely lacking in competitive spirit. Their people have done so many GREAT things. But they (and their company) are silent, silent… It has to be really frustrating for the people who saw the future, implemented the tech, and then were left with no recognition.
