I'm finally starting to want a tablet. I can see how having something between the laptop and smart phone could be useful, and not just fun. Curious what's next in the pipeline.
Thanks +Shawn McLeod for the share and +Mike Corbett for the post and review.

It looks great, the price is amazing but somehow, I feel I want something with a higher resolution and maybe 10" screen. 1280 x 800 pixels is not a lot when it comes to surfing some websites. The price alone however.. is very tempting.
I have a Kindle Fire. I really enjoy having something a little bigger than a phone but lighter than the laptop for casual use. I wouldn't have bought the Kindle just for that (tl;dr, I bought it for my mom and she changed her mind, I spaced returning it until too late), but since I have it, it gets a lot of use. If I'm JUST reading, I'd rather have a 'regular' kindle, because of the weight. Haven't traveled with the Fire, but suspect I'd end up taking a kindle, my laptop and my phone and leaving the Fire at home.
The things that I do on the Fire can be done from my phone–the fire is just a bigger screen. Honestly, other than reading? I like it for games. Drawsome on the bigger screen is so much nicer.
I've got a 4.6" phone and a 10" tablet and kinda want something in between. Very portable but large enough to be productive on. The price point and functionality of this Nexus 7 is unbeatable!
+Dirk Reul Ditto!
+Sheila Garl I can totally see using the standard no frills Kindle for reading. I am not a fan of convergence for every device yet…
+Shawn McLeod Price point is what's finally getting me to take a serious look. Any less and it would be in my hands. I'm not opposed to paying for something awesome, but it's hard to shell out even this much when tech has the shelf life of fruit.
I prefer reading magazines on the fire versus one of the other kindles. National Geographic is pretty boring in B&W. I wouldn't have gotten the fire for myself (keep in mind I own 3 kindles!).
Agreed. Text only traditional books on the standard Kindle.
I have the Samsung Galaxy 2 7.0 and love it. Perfect size. I sold my iPad and replaced it with this
I'm loving this tablet, I've reviewed them all and this beats them all out guys
I convinced my GF to get this for school as an alternative to a laptop since she is tight on money…
With Google docs and everything on the cloud, it's all she really needs.
+Bryan Beck Nice. Has she already been using it at school? I am curious how she likes it and if she feels she is missing any functionality for what she needs. Thanks for chiming in!
+Mike Corbett Appreciate the review. What do you think of the price points? I know this is great price-wise, but that is comparatively speaking to what is on the market. What do you think over all of price versus the technology? I still think tech is going for too much. Open to be wrong, though.
She has yet to get one. But it's the plan. All her classes are done through books at home and online classesdiscussions. All of which she should be able to access on the tablet.
Her tiny hands are kinda perfect for it's size too. I'll keep you posted on her productivity with it. I have a laptop she can use for comparison.
I like the price and there isn't ,much cheaper that does what this does
