You would want a narrow tire with a deep tread, though, depending on the type of mud you have to deal with, you may want a slightly wider tire, but definitely don't go with super-wide tires, as you're effectively setting yourself up to hydroplane everywhere.

After looking at the tire, I think unless you're in a very heavily clay area, those should be fine at all but the widest widths. Lovely specimens.

I grew up in mud and snow country, darlin'. Offroading, and regular highway driving, with a light Jeep Cherokee? Tires MATTER.
Fast forward to the years of the 280Z and the upper range Mustang? Yeah, tires STILL matter. Only difference is what type of tire works best for each car.

We grew up dirt poor, but I ALWAYS got complimented on the tires Mom bought for my vehicles. She didn't mess around with tread, and neither should you.

Unless you're adding weight to the rear for offroading, I'd go as skinny as your rims will let you.
Granted, do you have to deal with deep, crusty snow at all? Do you keep your tires under, over, or perfectly inflated as a general rule? Do you pay attention to your inflation at all?

Ahhh. Then my suggestion is, go for whatever width looks best, but if you do a lot of interstate/highway driving, grab a second pair of lighter tread tires for the trips. Those will be a bit on the rough and wubbly side for long distance driving, and they're hare your gas mileage a bit as well.

Good call, just double check that against the PSI the tires are rated for, to make sure you're getting the inflation modification you're expecting (I didn't look, I lack a car now, and thus, tire porn hurts a bit).
