Well, here is my first attempt at making cake in an eggshell. I saw the post on +Keith Cramer's stream and wanted to beat him to it thought it looked fun. Overall, there are some tweaks to make to the process. Do not overfill the eggshells (see pics). Also, I need a better recipe to use for the cake batter than the one on Keith's post, which used a variation of pancake batter. This, even with the addition of melted dark chocolate chips, was very bland. Thanks to +Kristi Fahlsing for the suggestion of the funnel. 😉

Must try this weekend!
Seems like a fun project to try; taking into account the issues you encountered.
The use of a funnel cannot be overemphasized. I tried this using a cut-off corner of a plastic ziplock bag for filling.
Epic. Fail.
Spray the inside of the egg with Pam next time. Â A+ for effort.
Wanna write it up as a guest post for http://eat-the-evidence.com ?
Because I heart their expressions SO MUCH.
Brilliant! I get the sense you didn't butter the insides of the shells. Regardless, it might be fun at Easter! Also, I think a piping bag might make filling the eggs easier and more accurate. Great post!
PS I dig how the overflow looks like hair.
too bad the shell took some of the cake with it when pealingÂ
This is something my mom used to do at Easter. Cake eggs were the best egg finds when I was little.
Heh.
You could eat them 3-minute egg style. You know, lop the top off and eat with a spoon. Just don't dip your toast inside!
fyi…metal pointy thing +Scott Cramer is referring to was a corn-on-the-cob end holder. 🙂
+Kimberly Chapman I said the same thing to Scott last night! I said it's the way you see lots of people's dues now-a-days.
+Kristi Fahlsing Ah, I thought maybe he meant a shish-kebab skewer.
The hairdos actually reminded me of vaguely goth 80s styles.
ps agreed, very bland.
agreed +Kimberly Chapman. I thought was funny because Scott drew eyes on the eggs and the hair went over the drawn eyes…which you can't go anywhere without seeing someone with their hair combed over their eye(s).
Kids these days. Â Feh.
I draw faces on my eggs all the time. It makes me feel like Kali when I'm making breakfast. DIE, EGGS!Â
+Amanda Rachelle Warren DIE/DYE EGGS! heheh
+James Hamel +Christian Fox +Micha Fire Definitely need to coat the inside of the eggs for sticking. I kind of didn't think about it at the time. That's what first runs are all about!
+Kimberly Chapman Eat the evidence? Hm. Will have to take a look.
+Kimberly Chapman +Kristi Fahlsing Also, the hair reminded me of Rastafarians!
Beat me to the
punchbatter. I'll still give it a go though.Hmmm.. Maybe I should try it with these eggs instead:Â http://goo.gl/w3v2Q
I've found that the whiter and cheaper the egg, the harder the shell. They give them birds calcium. I notice that whenever I go from commercial to farm raised or vice versa.
I see what you did there. Die/dye (and I have to say that egg dying is a competitive and occasionally violent sport in the Warren household…lots of artists trying to one-up each other).

I wonder if you got a box of brownie mix…Â
all looks very eggasperating to me.
that is so cool
+Kelly Tall Eggcalent! I was wondering when someone was going to go there! 😉
