Can anyone help find props for a project?

+Kristi Fahlsing and I were at Cracker Barrel and they had a "Saturday Evening Post" cover on the wall by our table. The girl in the painting looks almost exactly like the daughter of a friend (picture published with permission). She looks even more like the painting in person and when she is making the same expression.

Our friend thought it might be cool to recreate the painting with her daughter dressed up in the same clothes and carrying the same props. If anyone knows where we can find any of the elements online, please leave a comment. Thanks!

I have found some hat boxes online but, darn, they are pricey. Plus I can not find the exact configuration. Thinking about painting here or doing post production in Photoshop.

You can upcycle card board boxes and make them that way, the clothes are pretty simple, a man's polo shirt belted, black matte tights, red beret.

  4. Christy Pemberton says:

kylee agreed to do it! 😉

  5. Allen Simpson says:

Hat boxes can be made easily out if poster board then use wrapping paper to finish. They should hold up long rough to snap of some shots

  6. Sonja Miller Williams says:

Second hand stores and costume shops are good places to find props for shots. Good luck!

Hat boxes can be found in craft stores, if you want to make them yourselves here are some links:

    Yikes. The resemblance is uncanny!

  9. Beth Revels says:

Make the hat boxes out of poster board. With the position they are in you won't need to put a bottom on them. Use both wire and cord for the handles and you can control the boxes better.

Awesome assistance from everyone! Will post progress. 🙂

  11. Beth Revels says:

For the jacket search the thrift stores for a red or light colored corduroy jacket. You can dye white or other light colored cotton. Don't forget the open pocket so you can tuck a whit hankie in it. If there are flaps on the pocket you can cut them off. The shoes might be hard depending on her shoe size. These also can be dyed with boot black if you find them in a color other than black. The belt can also be found easily at thrift stores
    😀
Hope this helps. Costumes are a thing of mine. They are the reason I'm a seamstress.

  12. Nesbi Maret says:

Red button down could work too

I'm excited to look for this stuff. I'll get with +Christy Pemberton tomorrow (her daughter) and go from there. We've got a pretty nice camera at the office and +Keith Cramer is trained in lighting from way back. I think this could be awesome if we can get it put together before she grows up. lol 😉

Even with the not-exact picture of her, does anyone else see the resemblance? Her mom saw… and to make things even more cool, the date on the magazine cover is the birthday of her youngest child.

  18. Keith Cramer says:

Sounds like a cool idea bro.

  19. Christy Pemberton says:

hey was my idea to redo it! i have to wait til tax $ to get anything as bills need paid on time 😉
