Fab.com history (I did not know this) and personal experience with the site.

I found fab.com when I was doing a search for unique gifts earlier this year. It was invitation only, which I thought was weird, but I was curious at that point and ended up with an account. Yes, they did have a lot of unique products, but most were a little over the top or expensive for me. I kept with the newsletter and started getting some that made me consider purchasing. Just recently I found some limited edition prints by Lora Zombie (depressed Superheros; alternate link below) that I was about to break down and purchase — and I waited a day too long and they are gone. They were at a good price, too. Sigh. However, when I logged in, the site gave me a free invite link for folks (see below if interested) which led me to learn a bit more about the history of the site before I posted anything about it. That's when I found the Forbes article below. So, all in all, brain dumping everything into this post for y'all.

First… Lora Zombie prints I missed. *bawl* They were $35 and everywhere else I was seeing them for $50+. Oh well. Not the season to be buying myself things! ha.

Invite for an account at Fab.com (see disclaimer below): http://fab.com/uicaqs

Disclaimer: Yes, they try and entice me with credit for getting them customers. I have no problem if you dig up the link elsewhere — I'm sure they are out there! That's how I did it. But if you want to use the link they gave me, go ahead. There's nothing spammy with them. Not sure why they are trying to be exclusive. Here's the full text:

"Give your friends this special invite link: http://fab.com/uicaqs and they'll get $10 free credit when they join. Offer expires at 09:28 AM Eastern on 12/14/2011. Plus, get $25 for yourself when they make their first purchase of more than $25 within 30 days of joining."

The world didn’t need another flash sales site. It just needed this one.
