    Check.

  2. Mindy Gayle says:

I'm at that sweet spot right in the middle 😉

  3. Scott Cramer says:

I must say, the migration for me went from Dork, rapidly to Nerd, and finally, in college, to Geek. lol

  4. Scott Cramer says:

Yeah… I think maybe I blur the line between Geek and Nerd depending on the social situation. 😉

  5. Mindy Gayle says:

me too… but I can be a bit of a spaz at times lol

  6. Claudio Ibarra says:

This has been hanging up in my cubicle for many moons.

  7. Chad Wilson says:

Curse you, Venn, for reducing my life down to an easy-to-understand diagram!  Curse you!

  8. Kyla Myers says:

I might resemble that chart somewhere.

  9. Scott Cramer says:

+Kyla Myers You have three round orbs?!

  10. Kyla Myers says:

How did you know, +Scott Cramer?

  11. Bryan Beck says:

I think I'm a nerd leaning dangerously into dork.

  12. Kari Tedrick says:

    Shit! I'm a dweeb.
unless I can find an obsession, then I can be a nerd

  13. Meirav Berale says:

Am definitely a dweeb. I totally lack the obsession module.

  14. Amanda Rachelle Warren says:

Hahah! I use this chart every semester in English Composition to talk about word choice.

  15. Amanda Rachelle Warren says:

Also, I am a total geek!

  16. Mz Maau says:

I'm probably somewhere between Dweeb, Nerd, and Dork.

  17. Scott Cramer says:

    +Kari Tedrick What about photography?

  18. Mindy Gayle says:

+Kari Tedrick Star Wars & Doctor Who work for me!

  19. Niek Beukers says:

Somewhere between Geek and Nerd. You could call me a Geek+ 🙂

  20. Kari Tedrick says:

+Scott Cramer . I never thought of that as an obsession

  21. Jeff Chaney says:

I guess I'm a Geek.  Social Ineptitude doesn't fit the bill (at least I don't think it does.)

  22. Scott Cramer says:

    Obsession and passion are close…

  23. Chad Wilson says:

Obsession lacks emotion.  Passion depends on emotion.  At least, the way I would create the fine line.

  24. Kari Tedrick says:

+Scott Cramer Not close enough for me 🙂 I agree with +Chad Wilson Besides, it's not like I aspire to be a nerd.

  25. Kari Tedrick says:

    What's your obsession, Scott?

  26. Chad Wilson says:

I would put photography into the intelligence circle.

  27. Scott Cramer says:

Hmm… On the obsession side, here's a definition for obsession, "the domination of one's thoughts or feelings by a persistent idea, image, desire, etc."

As for passion, "any powerful or compelling emotion or feeling, as love or hate."

Obsession vs. passion, "A passion is a strong liking for an activity or something else. An obsession is when you are constantly preoccupied with an activity or something else."

So far as the chart goes, I think "obsession" is being used incorrectly. For my way of viewing the chart, it should be "passion" and perhaps "passion bordering on obsession".

Obsession has some bad connotations when you think of "obsessive compulsive" and "stalkers" and it isn't fair to to label a "Geek" as an obsessive.

Now… If we change "Obsession" in the chart to "Passion", I have a problem with "Passion" and "Social Ineptitude" making someone a "Dork".

So… The chart is fun. The chart is also an oversimplification (gee, I found it on the Internet, who'da'thunk!?). 😉

  28. Scott Cramer says:

+Kari Tedrick What's my obsession? You'll have to wine and dine me first. 😉

  29. Chad Wilson says:

Passion, to me, involves some amount of personal choice.  An obsession usually over-rides your better judgement, thus why it is sometimes also called a compulsion.

  30. Scott Cramer says:

Ergh. Let's not even bring compulsion into this! The diagram needs a few more circles to be really useful and not just silly fun.

It doesn't cover the fact that sometimes passions get obsessive temporarily, like for a specific project or idea, and then compulsion may figure in at the worst of it to get through the obsessive part and get it out of the system before allowing a fade back into passion again. Then again, I could just be crazy. That's a different circle.

  31. Meirav Berale says:

crazy is my favourite circle 🙂

  32. Scott Cramer says:

Always listen to the girl with a cartoon penguin! FTW 😉

  33. Brian Aldrich says:

All y'all are obsessing over the circles…

  34. Chad Wilson says:

No obsessing, sympathizing at how accurately it is describing many of us.

  35. Kari Tedrick says:

So Scott, is it an obsession or a passion to continuously enter these   sibling contest?
Seriously, with your track record, and Keith's mugger hugger mask. I fear for your safety

  36. Scott Cramer says:

Can not answer without the Crazy circle.

  37. Mz Maau says:

    Uh huh.
