Today is daughter +Maddie Cramer's 16th birthday. A decade ago, I wrote about her at six years old and I was struggling with her starting kindergarten. This year, she just completed her freshman year in high school. We made a deal when she was younger that she would stop growing up and stay my little girl. Okay, maybe I made the deal and she just smiled up at me. She could not avoid it and, truthfully, I would never stop her from growing into the amazing human being I get to know each day. Right now she's a 16-year-old sophomore. Every single day of this journey I have been the proudest father anywhere. That's always what I thought dads were supposed to feel like, and I was right. The one thing nobody tells you when you have a child is that on that birth certificate, in fine print, it spells out that you will never have another worry free day in your life. But it also says that new life is an opportunity to have the most important job in the world. I got to have the most important job in the world. Thank you daughter, Happy Birthday, and I love you.
