I meant to get a picture of the snow flakes coming down. However, with the cellphone camera, I got a different effect, but I like it!

You mean da stroboscopic effect? That's independent of the sort of camera you use, it only needs an exposure time above 0.01s. Take the trace of a single snowflake, count its white spots and divide the result by the doubled AC frequency (120 for you), result is the exposure time in seconds…. 😉
